Product Description
Conical Burr Grinders preserve the most aromas and can grind very fine and very consistent. The intricate design of the steel burrs allow a high gear reduction to slow down the grinding speed. The slower the speed the less heat is imparted to the ground coffee, thus preserving a maximum amount of aroma. Because of the wide range of grind settings these grinders are ideal for all kinds of coffee equipment such as Espresso, Drip, Percolators, French Press. It can also grind extra fine for the preparation of Turkish coffee. Slowest grinding speed in its class creates less friction and heat build up preserving maximum aroma and flavor in any grind setting Tight fitting ground coffee container, holds up to 4 ounces of ground coffee See-through bean container holds up to 8.8 ounces of beans Timer can be set to grind from 5 to 60 seconds Elegant, timeless and user-friendly design Cleaning brush and measuring scoop included Dimensions - Height 10.8 x Width 5.4 x Length 7.7 Weight - 3.3 poundsGreat grinder. Easy to use. Doesn't make a mess like my last Capresso burr grinder because it releases the ground coffee from above the collection bin instead of beside it. The only slight issue I've seen is that the bin can slip (vibrate?) slightly forward, but this fact hasn't seemed to result in any misdirection of coffee outside the bin.
Grinds great and appears well made. However, the static electricity is hard to get rid of, especially with dark roast. Also, the grinder starts as soon as you turn the dial, hard to get an accurate amount. Should have an on/off switch.
I bought this coffee grinder based mostly on customer reviews. I guess I should have paid more attention to the one-star reviews! After I had used the grinder only two times, the upper burr locked into place and there was no way to get it unstuck. One reviewer had the same problem and was able to fix it by inserting a butter knife into a slot. Tried it, didn't work. I decided that if this grinder is so prone to malfunction, the best thing to do would be, alas, to return it. For the two times that it did work, the grind was great and I was really enjoying my fresh-ground coffee!
This is my first burr grinder and so far I like it. The only thing I don't like is the tiny brush that comes with the grinder. I am using a much larger brush I had on hand.
A friend tried to use the Capresso without asking or reading how to use it and really messed up the alignment of the bean container. We were able to realign the grinder locking slot and it continues to work just fine.
I have the exact same complaints as some other reviewers:
(1) The container the grinds fall into migrates out, obviously creating a huge mess unless you always remember to put something up against it to hold it in place. In my opinion, this is a major design flaw and a good reason to get something else.
(2) I too have issues with the bean container set up. The container itself is chintzy thin, which is critical because the way it has to be adjusted for the grinding process, as well as the best way to shut it off, is not crystal clear in the directions, and it can be difficult to maneuver without easily damaging it. Turning the grinder off with the timer is not recommended because that will wear the switch out.
The container is especially vulnerable to breakage when you always have it set to fine grind. Another design flaw, because I'm guessing the majority of people who buy a burr grinder are not likely to want big chunky grounds to brew in a $15 drip machine.
That said, I had good customer service, and the bean container is cheap to replace when you break it, which you probably will.
My first burr grinder was a Mr. Coffee. It was very loud and created much static but, at the same time was very inexpensive and performed well.
This grinder is better in every way ... less noise and static and very consistent with the makeup of the grind size selected. I didn't give it the fifth star because the hopper has a tendency to vibrate open during the grinding process. One reviewer suggested a rubber band and that worked fine. Another reviewer suggested a magnet and I found this to be the better solution. I went to Lowe's Home Improvement and purchased a roll of magnet material with sticky backing. I cut three strips and applied them to the back of the hopper. Then, cut three more, removed the backing and stuck magnet face to magnet face leaving the sticky side up. I inserted the hopper and applied steady pressure for a couple of minutes. In the end, I had to use a couple drops of super glue to prevent curling. I must say I love this solution! Hopper doesn't budge during the grinding process now yet the hopper pulls away from the back wall with little effort.
I recommend this product.
The Capresso 560.01 Infinity Burr Grinder was supposed to be quiet and efficient. It is exactly as described. I am very pleased with its performance. My previous grinder broke down after one year. It always made a lot of noise, sometimes made a very high pitched noise, and often got stuck. The Capresso runs smoothly and is easy to clean.
I did not like this grinder at first, but now I love it! The dial is spring loaded and seemed a little cheap considering the price of the grinder. Similar priced grinders had exact amount buttons to push. However, now that I have gotten use to using the Capresso, I just set the dial to "4" and release the knob. It makes a perfect amount of ground coffee for one full pot. Simple to set and operate, exact every time!
Does a nice job grinding the coffee. Cleaning with canned air makes it easy to clean.
While I'm somewhat new to the whole grind your own and pump you own espresso, I really first educated myself on web pages like CoffeeGeek.com and then checked out reviews here for the best grinder. I have had my grinder for about 3 weeks and will not go back to a blade grinder, And this one is not too noisy. My dog used to go nuts over the noise my blade grinder made but this one doesn't even phase her. and I havew found the versatility of the grind to help with options of what I am brewing for. I would buy this one again in a heartbeat.
